NETHERLANDS: Action during an important marketing conference

Roy Scheerder (VP Marketing KLM) was to be one of the speakers during the High Performance Marketing Conference 2012 of Accenture in the WTC in Amsterdam. Activists of Respect voor Dieren used this opportunity to highlight the disgusting business Air France-KLM is involved in.

Dressed in business suits and with name/company badges of the HPMC 2012, we took part in the conference. A few minutes after Roy Scheerder started his presentation we climbed onto stage with our posters and took over his speech! Many international guests of different big companies were present.

Within 20 seconds organizers of the conference rushed down to us off the stage and pushed us outside. We left a conference room full of shocked and surprised faces - totally quiet! Roy Scheerder clearly had something to explain there!

After running off before the security guards could grab us we went behind our computers and continued our protest online. A special twitter group was set up for the conference so people could ask questions and communicate with each other during presentations or breaks. With multiple twitter accounts we continued to highlight the lab animal trade by Air France-KLM and asking Roy Scheerder (@roysc) to explain himself, why they are happy earning money on the back of innocent lives!

The campaign will continue, the international pressure will only get bigger and we will not fail the animals!
